The came was created in 1932 when an abandoned quartzite quarry was flooded. The lake covers a surface of approx. 10,000m² and the maximum depth measures 30m. It is situated in a beautiful forest with numerous bungalows close by.
The campsite is covered by many trees which offer shade on sunny days. The Kolumbus Lake is surrounded by holiday bungalows, a gelateria and a leisure hall with a restaurant.
