Johanniskirche |
|
DescriptionThe Johanniskirche (St. John's Church) was completely destroyed during the Second World War and after extensive renovation work had been carried out it was reopened to the public in July 1999. The oldest parish and market church in Magdeburg was transformed into a modern concert hall, conference centre and exhibition venue much in demand for exclusive events. The Johanniskirche is also the burial place of Otto von Guericke, father of experimental physics and inventor of the air pump. It is located in the city centre next to the Town Hall. The museum can be visited if no other event takes place. |
