First Steps

You will have a number of formalities to complete in the initial days and weeks after your arrival. But if you’re feeling overwhelmed by it all, we can help.

One of the first things you will have to do is register with various authorities in the city. Some things, such as registering for your TV licence or making appointments, can be sorted out online. But when it comes to the most important things such as registering with the Aliens Authority, you’ll have to do that in person.

Registration

Two official formalities are important at the beginning. Firstly, registering at the citizens' registration office if you are staying in Magdeburg for longer than three months and are moving into a flat in Magdeburg.
